Press Release

North Atlantic Publishing Systems, Inc. Participates in the National Press Club's WEBFEST 2000 in Washington, DC, The National Press Club's Second Festival and Display of Digital Culture and Technology.

Boston, MA, July 21, 2000 - North Atlantic Publishing Systems participated in the second National Press Club's WEBFEST 2000 held July 19 and 20 at the Press Club's Headquarters in Washington DC. The National Press Club was created in 1908 to serve the professional and social needs of its members and has earned itself the reputation of the most prestigious news forum outside of the Oval Office. The Club now boasts over 4,500 members whose constituencies include fulltime journalists, both print and broadcast, public information specialists and regular news sources. The Club is best known for its series of luncheon speakers, one of the most prestigious and influential news venues in America. More heads of state appear at the National Press Club than any forum in the world outside the Oval Office.

As part of its continuing efforts to provide its members, and the public, with programs and seminars that address the professional issues important to journalists, WEBFEST 2000, co-hosted by the Information Technology Communications Association (ITCA), was created to provide a festival and display of digital culture and the opportunity for members of the media to meet and talk with the companies and people behind the technologies that are driving this new information superhighway.

WEBFEST 2000 was sponsored by the National Press Club's high-technology committee, headed by T.K. Maloy, and the ITCA, headed by David Silverberg, managing editor of The Hill newspaper. A portion of the proceeds of the event will benefit the Eric Friedheim Library, a non-profit organization that provides educational and professional development services at the National Press Club. Robert Davis, president and CEO of Lycos discussed how the Internet Technologies are driving Global Democratization at the Wednesday NPC Luncheon that drew nearly 500 attendees.

T.K. Maloy estimated that there were more than 1,000 attendees at the expo which provided the attendees and exhibitors the opportunity to exchange information on how their products and services are helping to drive this new digital culture and economy. One of the attendees remarked, that never had they had the opportunity to interact with so many relevant technology companies all located in one place, and thanked T.K. Maloy for hosting such a resourceful event. There were over 40 technology companies that staffed display booths at the Expo.

T.K Maloy also thanked North Atlantic Publishing Systems, who develop, market and support software products for pre-press publishing for their participation and support at the event and invited NAPS back for next years program.
